Axel Esquivel is the Government Relations Coordinator for the Department of Government Relations at Rutgers University.  Mr. Esquivel provides administrative support across the Office of Federal Relations, the Office of State Government Relations, and Rutgers Scarlet Service. He comes to Rutgers with eight years of experience working in intergovernmental, federal, and state affairs.

Axel most recently served as the Director of Constituent Services for Senator John F. McKeon of New Jersey’s Twenty-Seventh Legislative District. He previously served three years as Scheduler and Staff Assistant to the late Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. He functioned as the Internship Coordinator in his respective capacities in the State Senate and US House of Representatives. 

Mr. Esquivel graduated with a bachelor's degree from Seton Hall University’s School of Diplomacy & International Relations in 2020.  While in school, he served as an Adviser for the Permanent Mission of El Salvador at the United Nations Headquarters and two terms as an elected student board member for the Higher Education Student Assistance Authority in the New Jersey Department of Education. He is a Caldwell, NJ native and resides in Orange, NJ with his fiancé.
